Project- Research Bad Moms

Image
Bad Moms is a 2016 comedic film that stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn.  This film is about Amy Mitchell (Mila Kunis) who is a married women with two children.  During the People's Choice Awards, Bad Moms won for the Favorite Comedy Movie.  The market that they distributed was multiple tv trailers and famous comedic actors that would catch the viewers eye.   The first poster shows the three main characters encouraging a huge crowd at an obviously out-of-control party.  After that the next posters were a form of character one-sheets that helped sell who all the characters are.  The   first trailer  was a red-band version that starts off by focusing on Kunis’ character as she tries to juggle kids, work, pets and more. When she’s at a PTA meeting and presented with a list of  restrictions on what should be a simple bake sale she snaps and says she’s had enough with trying to do it all.  Promotional partners included Mat...

Project- Research Dirty Grandpa

Image
The movie Dirty Grandpa came out in 2016 and I recently just watched it.  The movie stars Zac Efron, Robert De Niro, and Aubrey Plaza.  The target audience for this film is 17+ but it is a comedic film.  During this film, I could not stop laughing and I want my film to be that way for my viewers.  The marketers distributed this film by publishing multiple tv trailers, posters and staring comedic actors.   The first poster is basically a riff on the one-sheet for The Graduate, with Efron as Dustin Hoffman and De Niro as Anne Bancroft, only his leg showing as he pulls up his sock, complete with that little thing to hold the socks up.  The second poster featured a similar amount of white space, but this time the main image is pulled straight from the trailer as we see Efron and DeNiro standing next to their car with a gas pump as they’re aghast at and admiring, respectively, the shorts-wearing backside of a young female who is mostly off-screen, in case y...

Project- Research into Neighbors 2

Image
The movie Neighbors came out in 2016.  This movie is about a sorority who moves right next to a young couple with a newly born baby.   In the first Neighbors, it was a fraternity who moved next to the young couple.  Seth Rogan, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne and Dave Franco all are known for staring in comedic films.  The film received positive reviews, with praise aimed at Efron's and Byrne's breakout performances.  The film also received multiple comedic awards including Best Fight , Best #WTF Moment , and Best On Screen Duo.  The first teaser poster is pretty simple but gets the point across. “New neighbors” is at the top but the main image is a backyard fence with a pair of red panties with “2” on them hanging off it.   The next poster draws the battle lines, placing the “Parenthood” team on one side staring down the “Sisterhood” team.   The movie published many trailers along with a red-band trailer.  The movie's Facebook and Twit...

Revision- Final Scene

After viewing our video many times and trying to make it the best it can be, my group and I decided that our final revision would be the final scene.  We previously had Dante (the dad), looking out the window and saying "those hooligans" meaning that the crazy adults next door were having a party.  It was obvious after the watching the video many times that the view can tell it was not night time and that we should have a better last impression.  With many ideas and thoughts thrown out on the table, we decided to throw a little cliff hanger with Morgan's grandparents in the store holding up beer about to party right after Hannah and Dante were just talking about how they are glad their new neighbors do not party because of their kids.  Will this new revision, we hope that it will grab the viewers' attention more and make them want to watch the rest of it.

Revision- Middle Scene

In class, my teacher wanted to preview everyone's videos and magazines.  After my group presented, my class and teacher gave us feedback on revisions we should consider.  One of our scenes included Hannah Janssen (the mom) and Dante (the dad) talking in a grocery story.  Dante was directing his attention to the camera and talking to the camera the entire time.  After viewing this scene and getting our classmates feedback, we decided to change this scene.  My group and I decided to change the Publix scene to an in the car talking scene.  Where you will have a two shot of Hannah and Dante and then a behind the shoulder of both of them.  Making this change, will help our video but it was also make the conversation they are having more real.

Revision- Main Scene

My group and I decided to change the first part of our film.  At the beginning of our extract we had Morgan's grandmother and grandfather outside in her backyard showing the "morning after" the party they had the previous night.  After viewing our video with the whole class, we realized that we should go back and change the opening scene.  Changing the opening scene to something different will catch the viewers' attention more.  Morgan, Kelsey, and I decided to get a drome and to fly it over the neighborhood and then it will come to Morgan's house.  After it comes to Morgan's house, then we will fly it over to the pool cage where they had their party, showing all of the mess still there from the previous night.  This revision and changes that we are doing, will hopefully grasp the viewers' attention more and make our video more appealing.
